BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Cheon is an associate research fellow in the Policy Studies Division of the
Research Institute for National Unification, which is the think-tank for the Ministry of
Unification, Republic of Korea. He received his BA in Industrial Engineering from Korea
University, 1984, his MASc in Engineering Economic Systems from Stanford University,
1985, and his PhD in Management Sciences from the University of Waterloo, 1989. His
research interests are verification and compliance in arms control, nuclear weapons
nonproliferation, and East Asian military and security issues. His work includes _ A Study of
Arms Control Verification with Emphasis on Theory, History and Cases_ (in Korean, Seoul:
KINU, 1992) and numerous journal articles.
