BIOGRAPHY

Gerald Steinberg is an Associate Professor of Political Studies and Research
Director, BESA Center for Strategic Studies, Bar-Ilan University, Ramat-Gan, Israel. He is an
expert on international relations, arms control, science and technology policy and Israeli
foreign and defense policy. He is a consultant to the Israeli Defense and Foreign Ministry for
the multilateral negotiations on regional security arms control, and has published widely on
these subjects. Gerald Steinberg has written numerous publications. He received his PhD in
Government from Cornell University (1981) and his MSc in Physics from the University of
California, San Diego (1975). He is a fellow at the SIPRI Project on Decision Making in
Defense Procurement and the United States Institute for Peace Working group on
conventional arms control for the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.
