Photo of Brandon Brandon Yu is the Associate at the Nautilus Institute. His previous responsibilities in Nautilus Institute include producing and editing the Daily Report for the Northeast Asia Peace and Security Network (NAPSNet).

Prior to joining Nautilus Institute, Brandon worked as a research assistant for Pulitzer Prize nominated, UC Berkeley Sociology Professor Kristin Luker at the Center For The Study of Law and Society. He also spent a year working at the Berkeley APEC Study Center (BASC) with UC Berkeley political science Professor Vinod Aggarwal. He has also worked with Berkeley city Mayor Shirley Dean on the Mayor Student Advisory Committee, as well as several other academic committees. Brandon was a founding member and original Features Editor for the student newspaper Satellite. Brandon continues to serve as co-editor with Dean of UC Berkeley's Graduate School of Journalism and long time China scholar, Orville Schell, on a monthly series of internationally published columns entitled "China Stands Up" for Project Syndicate.

A native of Chicago, Brandon is now happily residing in the Bay Area where he continues to enjoy his adolescent pastimes of playing pinball, reading comic books, and listening to records. He has two cats (Chutney and Mushu) and is a strict vegetarian. In his spare time, he volunteers at Café Eclectica in Albany where he books and promotes weekly underground music shows.

Brandon graduated magna cum laude from UC Berkeley with a B.A. in Political Economy (Summer 2001) and an emphasis on Northeast Asian International Relations.
