Joan has brings to Nautilus an extensive executive background in the private and non-profit sectors. Her career has provided leadership responsibilities in business planning/strategy, organization transformation, all human resource and labor functions, internal consulting, financial management, grant writing, administration, supervision, human resource development, performance management, diversity, marketing, operations analysis, high-level facilitation (including uncertainty scenarios) and classroom teaching skills, compensation, mergers and acquisitions, research and consulting.

As COO she is responsible for developing governance systems for the "nodal" dispersed structure of Nautilus; the international organization strives simultaneously for separate cultures and a central identity--this creates many unusual management, communication, and accountability challenges. As the Senior Scenarist, Joan oversees and facilitates scenario workshops on a wide range of human security issues.
