Walden Bello executive director of Focus on the Global South, a Bangkok-based research, analysis and advocacy institute. He is also professor of sociology at the University of the Philippines and visiting professor at the University of California at Santa Barbara. He is the author of, among other books, Dilemmas of Domination: the Unmaking of the American Empire (New York: Henry Holt, 2005) and Deglobalization: Ideas for a New World Economy (London: Zed, 2002). He was awarded the Right Livelihood Award (also known as the Alternative Nobel Prize) in 2003.
